Last week Arthur Goethals (president) and Wim Van de Keere (general manager) of the Pro Basketball League presented the new season to partners, players, clubs and press on Media Day.
One of the interesting facts mentioned: 44% of basketball fans are between 16 and 34 years old. The league is aiming to attract and retain this young audience by offering an official PBL app and a streaming platform embl.tv.
The PBL app (iOS and Android) is powered by Fan Arena. Fans will be able to pick their favourite team(s) to customize their experience. The mobile app will be the go-to touchpoint in PBL’s digital strategy, combining an OTT (with automated streaming by Playsight) and a ticketing platform with club news, stats, and live scoring.
The benefits of an app for the Pro Basketball League
- Gather fan data
- Convert fans into buying tickets
- Increase viewership by incorporating the OTT
- Create added value and more exposure for sponsors
- Provide more value to the fans with stats, news, etc.
- Efficient backend for PBL and clubs to add and update content
